Blast crisis in chronic myeloid leukemia: An immunophenotypic analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background and Aim of Study: There are two different phases untreated chronic myeloid leukemia – phase, blast crisis according to the World Health Organization classification Hematolymphoid tumors. The cells in can express myeloid, lymphoid, bi-phenotypic, monocytic, megakaryocytic, erythroid phenotypes. immunophenotype population determines how patients respond treatment, hence flowcytometric examination is required. aim study: assess immunophenotyping outcomes flowcytometry performed on crisis. Material Methods: A five-year retrospective descriptive analysis was carried out Pathology Department at King George’s Medical University Lucknow, India (2017-2021). patient’s peripheral blood bone marrow aspirate samples were analyzed. Clinical, hematological, immunophenotypic data retrieved. flow cytometry prepared using standardized “lyse-stain-wash” method. Results: total 43 cases retrieved from departmental archive 5 years. mean age study 39.62±14.86 24 males 19 females. 27 diagnosed with crisis, 14 B-lymphoid 2 mixed phenotypic acute leukemia. Conclusions: Identification lineage crucial since existence atypical phenotypes influences disease treatment prognosis.

70-year old woman was admitted with a diagnosis of pyelonephritis. The physical examination showed her to be lethargic and febrile (39°C). There was no liver or spleen enlargement. Laboratory findings were as follows: white blood cell count: 25310, hemoglobin level: 11.2 g/dL, platelet count: 41310/L, lacticodehydrogenase level: 4,100 IU/L (normal value < 350); erythrocyte sedimentation rate: 9...

Background: Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder due to BCR-ABL1 translocation. Patients showing transformation into blast crisis (BC) have poorer treatment response and prognosis. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in the department of Pathology, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India, over a time period of 5 years (2014-2019) to evaluate the ...
متن کاملPromyelocytic blast crisis of chronic myeloid leukemia during imatinib treatment.
A 32-yr-old man with the chronic phase of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML-CP) was treated with imatinib mesylate for 6 mo. The real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR ratio for BCR/ABL in blood mRNA (BCR/ABL RT-QPCR) decreased from an initial value of 0.0159 to a low value of 0.0012 after 3 mo, indicating complete hematologic response. During the next 3 mo, the patient progressed to a pr...
متن کاملChronic myeloid leukemia blast crisis arises from progenitors.
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) progresses through three distinct clinical stages: chronic phase, accelerated phase, and blast crisis. The progression to accelerated phase and blast crisis is driven by activation of oncogenes, inactivation of tumor suppressor genes, and/or amplification of the BCR-ABL fusion gene, which causes the chronic phase of the disease. The cell of origin of blast crisis ...

DOI: 10.1590/S1679-45082016AI3516 Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) results from accumulation of abnormal blasts in the bone marrow, interfering with hematopoiesis.(1) Multiparametric flow cytometry is an important and well-known tool for AML diagnosis and for monitoring of minimal residual disease.(2) However, this technique is still poorly explored to elucidate clonal evolution of the leukemia. We...
